Meditation: “Don’t Just Do Something, Sit There”

While researching my journey into meditation, I found a title of a book that made me smile –  “Don’t Just Do Something, Sit There: A Mindfulness Retreat” by Sylvia Boorstein.  For the title alone, it was worth the purchase and while I wait for it’s arrival and to add it to my personal library, it is a gentle reminder to settle into meditation and relax.  Don’t get stressed out about getting unstressed.  All of the tips and instructions in the world may give you a map to meditation, but you need to follow your own path to find what works for you. A dark room, a quiet room…your eyes closed, your eyes open…music or peace…morning or night.  You choose your path…you find your 300 seconds.  Life is stressful enough…don’t make this journey stress you and take any of your energy away.  It’s here in front of you to fill you up.  Take it…it’s a gift for you.
