Welcome to Sweetie Pie's

Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s – Family is all that Matters

After a week away from Sweetie Pie’s, Tim came by the restaurant for a little support….needing a little pick me up from those he has grown to love. With his son TJ still in an incubator in the hospital born over three months early, it was clear that Tim was barely holding on. He joined everyone for a quick prayer before he headed out.

In the meantime Robbie worked hard to be sure the restaurant continued to run smoothly. She wanted to get everything in place so that she could go see TJ. However, Charles was late – shocker! “Having to lean on Charles is like leaning on a limb that will hold a fly. You’re gonna fall.” Still seeing her grandson was important.

While they waited for test results, Jenae and Tim had been worried sick about their son. Being born so early they feared that something might be wrong. The news came back…little TJ was perfect! They just needed to get a little weight on him before he could go home. It was such a relief for the Sweetie Pie family.

Robbie was getting a bit tired of the family slacker, Charles. Being that he never took initiative, she decided to give him an additional job. He was to work on advertising. Looking for advice from the servers, he went with their suggestion and decided to create a video he hoped would go viral. This allowed Robbie to turn her attention to the creation of her 3rd Sweetie Pie’s. Meeting in the back alley with Mr. Bussey her financial consultant, they discussed using a private investor to fund it. It was worth a shot.

Everything was off. Tim needed to be with the baby and the restaurant needed to go on. This meant that Robbie had to refocus the team. Finally after 2 weeks from being away, Tim came back to lend his mom some help. Although he was exhausted, it was probably good to feel a little normalcy in his life. It had been so stressful. After a lecture from mom about seeing the baby, Tim was reminded to take nothing for granted. “I’m trying to tell you how to be a fantastic dad. I want to be as proud of you as a dad as I am a son.” Of course, Charles immediately got on Tim’s nerves by NOT working!

Charles immediately worked his new position into a meeting with Jazzmin. Hoping she could help him, they met at Sweetie Pie’s. When he threw out the idea of dancing macaroni, I was suddenly glad to see Jazzmin giving her two-cents. Her thoughts…they needed a theme song. Something tells me she is hoping to sing that theme song on the video. Next thing we know Jazzmin is back at the restaurant carrying a bunch of hula hoops. Charles’ concept was for her to hula hoop while he rattles off the menu. After a few takes, his work was done.

Next thing we know we are back at the hospital and TJ is about to have a spinal tap. The pressure really started to get to Tim and Jenae. Feeling overwhelmed, they had a talk that was long overdue. Jenae had been sleeping at the hospital with TJ and Tim wasn’t around as much. It appeared that working out and working was helping him to deal with his stress, but in reality Jenae needed him. I can’t imagine how hard it must have been for them. Jenae felt guilty and alone. Tim was trying to do it all and convince himself that his son was alright. Both of them were worried sick.

In the meantime, Sweetie Pie’s was on high alert. Robbie had a group of investors coming in and she wanted everything to be perfect. Of course that always seems to be when something goes wrong AND it did. One of their cash registers went down forcing all the customers into one long line. Everyone was starting to panic and Tim was on the phone making it work. With both registers back online, the investors walked in to a line of happy customers. Robbie sat down to share her dreams. Being that she already had the restaurant which had banquet and culinary school space and meeting rooms, the only concern was if she was ready for another person’s input. Not all investors are silent with their money. Robbie realized the investors were going to take as long as the bank to get back to her….and they may want some control. This was enough to drive her back to the bank.

As the episode came to a close, Charles sat Tim and Robbie down to show them his video. Despite them knowing it wasn’t all that good, Robbie was like any other loving mom or aunt and let Charles know that she was proud of his idea and the work behind it. It just killed Tim. But nothing could bring him down. He was getting Jenae out of the hospital for a bit and bringing her home to Sweetie Pie’s for a little family love. Tim could tell she needed it. Showing proud pictures of TJ, it was a relief for everyone. Then Robbie did something that brought me to tears. The piano player happened to be in house that day and Robbie broke into a proud grandmother song for her son. Singing “Lean on Me” the crowd joined in. Times like this, families need each other and it was clear that Tim, Jenae and little TJ were surrounded a ton of love and support.

Next week….Robbie’s old friend comes to town for what looks like a date, Charles finds a new muse and Tim adjusts to being a dad. Always something new at Sweetie Pie’s!
