Good morning Gayle…and the topics of the hour…beginning with the SOTU (State of the Union). I think President Obama did a very solid job in his annual State of the Union speech.  His messages was clear…his tone appropriate….the timing good…but wait, it’s not me that I am blogging about.  On Gayle this morning, she talked with Chuck Todd about the highlights of the hour SOTU and dished about the speech during the first 15 minutes or so.  High and solid marks were given to the President’s speech this morning from this team.  High and solid marks were given to the conversation between G and C this morning from me.  

Oscar Nominations were the topic of conversation with Courtney from the Todayshow.com.  Runaway favorite from Gayle is “The King’s Speech” for Best Picture and Best Actor…big snub, Ben Affleck as director in “The Town.”  When the Oscar nominations come out…it always feels a little like a Bobby Flay Throwdown for me.  Now, I have until the actual awards show to go see and/or rent all of the movies that have been nominated so that I can be an educated, unbiased award show watcher.  Mission Impossible, I say.  Who am I kidding….I’m going to be looking for the eye candy and the fancy clothes.  (How I hope Clooney is there).  But as an added bonus – Gayle King’s favorite nominee is Molly Gandour, a Gayle King staffer who is nominated for an Academy Award for the documentary named “Gasland.”  Go Molly!  and where do I see “Gasland?”

I think we were a little all over the place today, Gayle.  The SOTU, a Green Bay Packer’s Tie story, Oscar Nominations, MTV show Skins, family secrets…OMG…what people will share!  “My brother is my uncle.” came from one of the callers.  WHAT?  Life can be complicated and totally IS more complicated for many. 

For tomorrows show…a mom is in jail for 10 days for lying and using her father’s home address to claim residency to get her kids into a better school district.  WHAT?!!!! I can’t wait for that discussion!
