  1. DO THE “WRITE” THING THIS VETERANS DAY, NOV. 11TH–ADVOCATE: Create of a National Endowment and Trust Fund For Veterans…request a sample letter to send to your Senators, Representatives, and President Obama! Please ask your friends, family and other veterans to do the “write” thing, too! If you can get another 3 to 5 people to write letters also, then, we have begun the snowball effect toward providing for our American veterans most in need. Thank you for your interest in this letter writing campaign.

    I do this work in loving memory of my nephew, Sgt. John “Kyle” Daggett, KIA OIF, Army Ranger, 21 years old (2008).

  2. Here is a sample letter that advocates for the creation of a National Endowment and Trust Fund For Veterans…Please write one of your own or you can adapt this sample letter or you can simply “Copy” and “Paste” this one to a document in your word processing program and just fill in the blanks and send to your Senators and Representatives!! (AND, PLEASE PASS THIS ON!)

    Thank You,

    Dear _______________________

    I am writing to advocate for the creation of a National Endowment and Trust Fund for Veterans. It is time to truly address the multitude of problems facing our veterans. With the creation of an endowment, we as a country can provide for the needs of our veterans most in need. The following information is a brief description of how such an endowment and trust fund could be created without raising taxes:

    Add of a line to our U.S. federal income tax form (suggest beneath the place where you can give $1 toward financing presidential elections) and should contain:

    An opportunity for the tax filer to donate to a National Endowment and Trust Fund for Veterans;

    Blank underlined spaces (such as _________________) so that an amount can be entered by the taxpayer (with the note that the amount must be a minimum of $1.00).

    Finally, this would give Americans the opportunity to express their appreciation to our veterans for their service to their country and their desire to address the needs of our veterans.

    I also believe that there should be a stipulation that any money designated for this fund cannot be used for any other purpose—which is line with the ethics of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

    Using a granting mechanism similar to the National Endowment for the Arts (but funded by these taxable donations to the National Endowment and Trust Fund for Veterans as designated on federal income tax forms), these funds can be distributed to nonprofit organizations that provide direct services to our veterans. Like the NEA, the administrators of this endowment/trust fund would create (annually) the criteria for those who request program funding.

    I truly believe that this is a simple way to reach Americans who want to help veterans without raising taxes.

    Thank you for your genuine concern for our veterans.
