Rosie Show

Rosie Recap – Fran Drescher & Cheryl Hines on “The Rosie Show”

Finally I am beginning to feel comfy with “The Rosie Show”! Don’t get me wrong, I love Rosie and all of her shows have been hilarious. However it used to feel like she hit the stage and the set wasn’t quite ready. You know when you when you get up to speak and you silently wonder if you have the toilet cover stuck in your skirt. It was a really little thing, but I could see that RO was still putting on her gear. NOW, she seems ready for action. Wow that sounds weird. No, she isn’t a special ops action figure! As she grabbed her mic, the chairs provided a soft backdrop.

Now after yesterday’s show with the Osbournes, the Team RO has implemented a “swear jar”. The only problem…it is too little. I give it a week for Rosie to decide to give the money to charity which will only encourage her and her guests to let the filth fly. You totally know she’d do that. As she apologized to a young teen in the audience for the potty mouth words, she realized her mom let her cut out of school for the day. The moment took me back to all the stories Rosie would tell about heading to Broadway in the middle of school. I am certain it brought back memories for her. However she quickly moved on. Hillbilly Handfishin’, Dance Mom, My Strange Addiction…a reality show nightmare update.

I must say that Fran Drescher couldn’t be more adorable! Working a deal for a future scene with Rosie on her show “Happily Divorced”, a show about a couple who divorced once the husband came out of the closet. The show is actually inspired by her own life. With her work fighting cancer and a new book “Being Wendy”, Fran is a busy woman. I love that her book celebrates individuality and teaching that no one has to conform to any one type. That is such an important lesson. We all need to remember to celebrate the differences…which make us so beautiful and unique. Her “Cancer Schmancer” movement helps to educate us all about cancer because “Stage one is the cure. If you catch it on arrival, 95% survival”. I had no idea that 95% of all cancers are environmental. I know that the sun can kill, not to leave my water bottles in my car, and that my cell phone (according to Dr. Oz) shouldn’t be kept anywhere close to my bed at night. I have a close family member who passed from cancer and it broke the hearts of all of us around her. Being proactive is not only important, it is life and death. Check out her website to get great ideas on how to make the change what you put on your skin, cleaners in your home and even the foods you put into your family’s mouth. As I mentioned before, Rosie has started a new gig for the show. She asks her guests to bring in a home video to share with us all. I thought this was an awesome idea! Fran brought in one of her and her friend Judy on safari and the clip was hilarious. Let’s just say…tracker abandonment and a HUGE elephant!

You can’t watch an episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” without almost peeing you pants. Brilliantly smart, these characters spent seven years without a script. Pure RAW talent. If you haven’t seen the show, check it out. One of my all-time favorite CYE characters was Cheryl Hines. In the second segment, Cheryl’s mom, Rosemary, debuted for the first time on “The Rosie Show”.

After sharing a few details from Cheryl’s childhood, mom went on to introduce her own cocktail, “Hop-Skip and Go Naked”, she created for the when Cheryl premiered her new show, “Suburgatory” (which can be found starting soon on ABC right before “Modern Family”). I don’t really drink and must admit the beer added sounds a bit whacked, but according to Rosie it doesn’t even taste like alcohol. I’ll post the recipe later for those who dare!

With a little booze in the blood, the show shifted to a new game, Squeeze-Its! Both Cheryl and Rosemary teamed up with audience members took on the challenge. The goal, take two clues and squeeze them into one answer. Too funny!!!
