Rosie Show

Rosie Recap- Bob Newhart & Tracy Morgan on “The Rosie Show”

Rosie’s original announcer must officially be gone! Since Authur did so well last week, she is giving other audience members a chance to shine. This week also brought another new surprise…snuggies! She then let us all know that we will be treated to a snuggie number later this week. Can’t wait!

Rosie’s first guest held special memories for me. Lying against my mother on the couch, I would pull my knees up into my long nightgown. As she tried to relax after a long day, we would occasionally find ourselves seated in front of “Newhart”. I miss shows that just make you laugh. He sat on Rosie’s stage reliving the old days of stand up, told tales of hosting “The Tonight Show” for Johnny Carson 87 times, and the tribute that was recently thrown for him. Married 49 years, he and his wife had spent many years vacationing with Don Rickles and his wife. It is so funny. Bob has always been such a clean comic…so strange to think he is such good friends with Don.

Tracy Morgan then owned the stage. He is both sober, for 6 years now, and hilarious!!! We all couldn’t help but notice his fancy footwear. His story….just like most of us older people…wasn’t all that cool. He actually sprained his ankle playing with his dogs. Oh as we get older the stories are so less cool. My story…jacked up my knee walking. True and so sad. He then shared a personal story about his father. His dad served in the Vietnam War. Depressed from life, the one thing that got him laughing again was SNL. And to think….his son was part of that legacy. Surreal. With 30 Rock now in syndication, life is good. After eyeing a baby in the front row he joked with his fiancee about making a baby. She didn’t deny him…but it wasn’t a yes. Maybe she is waiting for the ring!

Rosie gave a moment to Tracy to talk about his public faux pas back on June. Reminding the audience that they are good friends and that Tracy doesn’t have a mean spirit, I felt bad for him. People make mistakes. Words are powerful and we have to be careful what we put out, BUT people make mistakes. I don’t think he’d make that one again! They briefly mentioned Occupy Wall Street…both feeling it is an important cause. I won’t climb up on the tempting box, but I will say this – The top 1% control everything. They continue to accumulate while others suffer. As they gear up to continue to hold their ground, their message is already embedded in society. They have us believing that if we take from them, we will pay the trickle down consequences. When 1% of the wealthiest people have more money and power than all of us combined, there is only a false sense of democracy. Just saying! Oops, it appears I took a tiny step up onto the box. Sorry.

To end on a great note, Rosie pulled out the “Doodlez” game followed of course by confetti!
