As we turn the calendar for July, be sure to save July 28th for OWN. This month the OWN Network will air an original documentary, “Serving Life”, which was produced by Academy Award winner, Forest Whitaker. This film will give us all an inside look at Angola, a maximum security prison in Lousiana. This isn’t your average prison…the average sentence is more than 90 years. Many of these prisoners will die within the prison walls of Angola. However, this film features the extraordinary hospice service within the prison where these hardcore prisoners care for dying inmates. This is sure to be an eye-opening documentary.

Loved this show! So powerful, such a great lesson for everyone. All prisons should be more like this one. I wish peace for all these men who have truly changed. They are still human.
One of these hospice prisners killed my mother when i was !2. I hope God has found a purpose for him, because in my mind I can’t come to terms with what he did, knowing her and loving her as he did. She was always nice to him, and it didn’t matter that morning of Feburary 12 1985.
