Gayle King Show

On the Gayle King Show – Actress Angela Bassett, Author Nicholas Sparks and Comic Caroline Rhea

Good morning Gayle! As we start our day well into the second week, I wanted to take a moment to say, “I’m noticing the changes and they are working.” Having the guest seated already and then, the “Three Things to Know” at the end of the show are great. But, I do miss my “Gayle” time a little. It was nice to get caught up in what was going on in the world. Gayle is my ‘go to.’ Well, onto the day. It looks FULL!

  • About MLK Memorial in DC – After 15 years of planning for this memorial, it’s finally been revealed and dedicated this past Sunday. Gayle…go! Take photos! Share the experience! “Martin Luther King…he saw what we might become…” I can’t wait to see it.
  • About Angela Bassett and “The Mountaintop” – Angela B. and Samuel L. Jackson are now starring on Broadway in a new play called, “The Mountaintop,” – 2 characters, 90 minutes, no intermission. It’s the fictional story of Martin Luther King’s the night after he delivered his mountaintop speech is meeting with RAVE reviews on Broadway (I checked…they LOVE it!…”not a play for the faint-hearted, but it is a celebration of life, love, and country…”). Gayle and Angela have an amazing conversation about it…and it makes me want to go to NYC in the next 16 weeks to see it!
  • About Nicholas Sparks new book – In his new book, The Best of Me, Gayle calls it “loving, kind and sweet…” and made her “long for a time long gone.” It sounds beautiful, but all of Sparks books are just that – so beautiful. Where do these stories come from? His heart and soul just must have so much of this to be able to pour it into words. Gayle asks, “Do you know when you start a book how it’s going to end?” Yes, he does. “You have to move all the emotions and be very clear on exactly what you are writing to,” Nicholas tells us. His love at first sight story is as wonderful as one of his books.
  • About “Don’t Tell the Bride” with Caroline Rhea – Caroline is here to talk about OWN’s new show, “Don’t Tell the Bride.” With $25k, the groom is responsible for everything. Gayle “still believes in love” and would want a great dress and great food if she got remarried. The show is naturally funny so check it out. Real life drama…Here’s my perfect day. Hawaii. Beach. The Four Seasons. George Clooney…just waiting for you. 🙂
  • And…Three Things You Need To Know About Crash Dieting – Bob Harper from the Biggest Loser gives us some GREAT advice.
