Gayle King Show

On the Gayle King Show – Whoopi Goldberg & Wolfgang Puck, (February 25)

Bi-coastal Gayle is off to California again.  The Oscar’s are this weekend and it’s Gayle’s last time that she gets to do the behind the scenes for the Oprah Show. Gayle’s not real thrilled about getting on another flight…and holding another stranger’s hand…her Air Marshall.

About The Oscars – Dishing with Jeff Cagle of Entertainment Weekly today.  What do you think about expanding the best pictures to TEN pictures?  Well, the mix is good and Jeff points out that “the higher your ratings are going to be because people with be vested….in watching.”  Makes sense.  It’s all about the business.  Gayle’s predictions for best picture (she has 2 pics) – The Fighter and The Kings Speech.  Jeff picks – The Kings Speech and Colin Firth is a lock for best actor.  What about James Franco and Anne Hathaway?  The promos are good and really fun.  He is game for anything and Anne is a great singer and dancer…we find out.  Gayle thinks Natalie Portman in Black Swan is a lock.  Jeff agrees.  Well, we’ll all have to tune in to watch to see how this all turns out…

About Whoopi Goldberg – Author, Actor, Writer, Host and EGOT winner…but not married she chimes in.  “Me too,” says Gayle.  “I am very excited….the Oscars are the pinnacle,” Whoopi tells us. “It’s still a big deal.”  “When you are an Oscar winner, it stays with you for life,” Gayle reminds everyone….and Whoopi says, “It is a great honor just to be nominated…because there are a lot of people on the not-nominated list.”  Hosting or Nominee – which is harder?  “Nine minutes during the show that are yours… the first 4 minutes….and then, mid-show you do another 2 or 3 minutes….,” Whoopi says.  The rest, it’s the show…and people are there to get the information on who wins.

So, Gayle asks Whoopi about the New York Times piece that omitted her when talking about Oscars.  “I wanted to take it seriously.  This article… they were trying to show there were not black people nominated this year,” Whoopi says, double nominee for the Oscars.  They completely omitted her from any piece of it.  “I think the article didn’t make sense,” she says.  “The history…there’s not that many of us to name…like 12 of us,” Whoopi says.  Yes, they should have gotten it right.

Whoopi’s next thing…Broadway.  Sister Act on Broadway.  “It’s so FUN…if you want to get your fun on, it’s the show to see…for the whole family,” Whoopi says.  White Noise on Broadway.  About racism…and not for the kids…but compelling.  Go see it, we are told.

About Wolfgang Puck – Talking with Wolfgang live from LA, he’s preparing for the Governor’s Ball…to tell us all about what he’s dishing up!  “Every year we come up with a new menu,” Wolfgang tells us.  “This year, it’s almost an English theme.”  For a full menu and recipes, get it at www.oprah.com/gayleking .  1600 for dinner.  Mini kobe burgers, pizza, $20k in black truffles….yum!  And he’s going to be baking Gayle a truffle pizza…special order!  WOW!  I’ll take that to-go please…

About the YOUR OWN SHOW Finale – Who’s it going to be???  Zack or Christina?  We KNOW you KNOW Gayle…but we also know you won’t tell.  So, watch tonight yall!
