This week we are doing makeovers. The guest mentor this week is Vera Wang…get out! “A makeover is about bringing out someone’s hidden potential,” Vera tells the team. 24 hours. Let’s go!
The Prep…Team Vision – Vera comes in and everyone is talking over each other…and then, Kristina takes over. The makeover participant, Lori, is a single mother of 3…breast cancer survivor…interviewing for new jobs…and something she needs to make her feel pretty again. Vera is giving them everything that they need…let’s see what they do with it. Kristina’s in charge and not always coming across as a team player…but I guess it IS a competition…right?
Lori, Kristina and Flora head to Kohl’s for a day of shopping and meet Vera as an extra bonus. The team seems a little frantic. Everyone…take a breath please.
Team Focus – This team’s makeover participant is Barbara who has lost 140 pounds…and is ready for a transformation. Vera comes in and everyone has questions. Feedback and vision….and what “Simply Vera” is doing for women. Barbara is ready. There’s a good energy with the team…less the frantic crazy of Team Vision. Hmmmmm….I wonder how this will go…
Now, onto the beauty part of the makeover…. Ken Pavis is so calming and nice and I’m loving him. Please, do my hair then let’s do lunch! Here we go ladies…. In the middle here, Oprah checks in. “What about the spirit of cooperation? Lead with intention…..and end with intention….to keep a team focused.” Great advice…so pass it on. These teams could definitely use it. Can I get an “AMEN”?
The Taping…Team Vision –Kristina asking Ken to be in the segment was a brilliant idea. It is after all, a total makeover. Elizabeth and Terey are the on camera team…and they are awesome and very natural. This makeover was great….and letting Vera and Ken interact and have a dialogue, well, they made the interview. Great job Team Vision! This weeks comeback team!
Team Focus – Eric is the host and Alicia, a commentator. Going a little long, the rehearsal was tough and even rougher to watch. Eric is not a fashionista…no offense. It’s just not his sweet spot. Then, there is the issue of not using your expert guest (who is also your judge this week) during the interview segment. Ouch…when will the folks learn. A little out of focus….Team Focus.
The Elimination… Team Vision produces the best segment. Now….who is thrown in front of the bus on Team Focus – Eric and Ryan. Both get the 1:1 interview with Vera….and it’s time to save yourself. Ryan….bringing out the figure skating tid-bit and the gay marriage question does a great job. Eric is a little more off course…and thinks that the Vera interview should be his actual argument to save himself. The fashion threw him off…but thanks for trying. Bye bye Eric.
