Oprah’s Lifeclass Lesson 18: Videos from DoYour Eyes Light Up When Your Child Walks in the Room?

A wonderful class with a lesson that you can start at this very moment for everyone that matters in your life. Watch…and be changed. Thanks OWN for sharing the videos and Oprah for sharing the lessons.

From OWN: Does Your Face Light Up? THE Toni Morrison Lesson – One of Oprah’s greatest lessons in the ’90s was that everybody just wants to be appreciated or validated. She had an aha! moment in 2000 when Toni Morrison, author of The Bluest Eye, was on the show asking, “Does your face light up [when you see children]?” because that allows your face to speak how your heart feels.

From OWN: A Biker Dad’s Oprah Show Aha! Moment – In 2006, biker dad Steve gave his wife the The Oprah Winfrey Show: 20th Anniversary Collection. Little did he know he was going to watch the DVDs and learn something from them too! Steve’s aha! moment came from watching Toni Morrison’s appearance when she discussed how you look at your children when they come into the room. From then on, he made a conscious decision to be excited to see his wife and children whenever he saw them.

From OWN: How Oprah Was Inspired by Avatar – In 2010, Oprah was impressed by James Cameron’s film Avatar and its spiritual message. She especially enjoyed the idea that the Na’vi, the humanoid inhabitants of Cameron’s fictional world, greet each other with the phrase, “I see you.” Oprah explains how she wishes we had a similar greeting in our society.

From OWN: How Your Childhood Affects Your Adult Relationships – For Oprah, Harville Hendrix was the best teacher of validation. Harville developed the Imago Theory, which is that you end up imaging in your adult relationship what you most need to heal from, whether physical or emotional wounds, received in childhood at the hands of your parents or caregivers. In 2006, Harville facilitated an Imago therapy session for Louie, who was abused as a child and was verbally, emotionally and physically abusing his wife.

From OWN: Oprah’s Special Connection with an Oprah Show Guest – In 2003, Oprah had David Caruso, a 32-year-old man who lost 305 pounds, on the show. His dream car was a Porsche—and Oprah made his dream come true by giving him one! But, more importantly, during that giveaway, Oprah felt a special connection with David: She saw him, heard him and validated him for the hard work he put into his weight loss.
