Gayle King Show

Thursday on the Gayle King Show – February 3, 2011

So, today on the Gayle King Show  instead of the daily question….we got a Gayle question.  “Do I look well rested?” asked Gayle this morning.  Well, you look a little tired but oh, don’t we all.  Otherwise, you look wonderful.

Here are the recaps and reflections from today’s show..

  • About the Weather  – Today’s hot mess is the weather…STILL.  I guess if I lived anywhere else, it would be my story too.  But I have to tell you, it’s days like these that makes me think that moving to Florida…well…the humidity thing is not so bad.  Anyway, Chicago is crazy with the 3rd worst storm in their history.  The Midwest is getting hammered…my poor relatives in Dallas…I just keep telling them…stay inside and keep warm.  I forget what it’s like to have a snow day.  Growing up in California and now, being in Florida…well, I didn’t get ANY snow days.  See kids, it may seem glamorous to live in the warmth and sunshine but you don’t get any of the extra perks….like sleeping in, hot chocolate overload and extra days tacked onto the end of the school year…
  • About Groundhog Day – Phil, didn’t see his shadow which should equal the coming of an early Spring.  But GK is quick to point out that Phil only has a 39% accuracy rate…and those ain’t good odds for bettin.  Keep your winter clothes out yall…just in case.
  • About Egypt – GK talked with a young American female journalist, Lauren Bohn, from Egypt about what is going on.  Reports in the last 24 hours have talked about increased violence.  Threats and intimation to journalists like Anderson Cooper and Christiane Amanpour looks very scary.  While the conversation was kinda choppy with Lauren, she reported, “I don’t feel like I am in danger.” If anything pushes me to be a “twitteraholic” will be this.  I’m already looking for updates from those I’m following.   History is happening people…I just hope that peace comes soon for all.
  • About Boris Kodjoe – Boris Kodjoe came on this morning to talk about affordable luxury for all – ALFA.  www.worldofalfa.com.  Affordable custom made shirts.  Well, he looked pretty darn nice in his shirt….so, if he’s a walking sample, sign me up.  Better yet….people, sign up and get some of these shirts.  I just love a man in jeans and a nice shirt.  And what did you say?  Starting at $29?  I’m going to have to check it out.  So….like he isn’t handsome enough but as soon as he started talking about his daughter who was born with spina bifita and his family foundation www.sophiesvoicefoundation.org – well, can we love him any more at this point?  I feel more aware after watching.  I am running out to make sure that every woman in my family has a bottle of folic acid for Valentine’s Day.
  • About Cheryl Hines and The GO RED Campaign for 2011 – Finally, Cheryl Hines came on rockin a red shirt and talking about the “Go Red” campaign.  She and Gayle could have been mirror reflections for the first part.  If they weren’t friends before…they should totally hang out now.  Just a couple of points about Go Red – heart disease is the #1 KILLER among women.  Spread the word that it CAN BE prevented people!  4 things – Exercise. Don’t smoke. Know your history.  Lower your cholesterol.  Cheryl said, “Don’t wait until you have a heart attack – don’t let that be your wake up call.  You have to take care of yourself first.”  So true.  Go Red people…and tomorrow, February 4th, is wear red day.  Pass it on!   I have to give it to Gayle for trying to PUUUUUUUUUUUUULL some information out of Cheryl about Curb Your Enthusiasm…but nothing.  UGH.  Guess I’ll just have to wait for the new season of CYE on HBO and find out then.

Today’s tip from Gayle:  You never want to be involved in any police report of any kind unless the police are coming to help you.  Good tip.  She’s totally right.

Additional observations on the Gayle King Show today…

  • GK’s hair do…looks great
  • On your left….(not my left, your left) the tall shell vase….not good.  Please change it.  Maybe with a nice colorful glass…just change it or splash some paint on it….please…
  • Love the new cranberry chairs.  How do they feel?
