  1. I suffered for over 1 year with Achalasia- lost 45 lbs in a matter of months b/c I couldn’t keep food down. I was happy for a while b/c I was trying to lose weight at the time. But when I kept losing weight my friends and family got concerned. As did I. I finally went to the Dr. in the spring of 2008. At first, no one could figure out what the problem was. Then I went to a radiologist to do a dye test. The second I swallowed the dye, he said “you have Achalasia”. I went on to have the botox procedure- but it only lasted about 1 month for me. So my Dr. suggested balloon dilation. That was in Sept of 2008. After the procedure I gained back 25lbs in two months. My body finally had food in it again….for the first time in over 1 year. It’s now early 2012 and I am still doing well. Will probably have to go back in for dilation in a year or so…
