OWN Original Shorts: Rain/Listen

by paula on December 14, 2011

One of the most wonderful memories I have in life is of rain. Growing up in Northern California, my mom would crack the window…let the cool air in and tell me, “Listen to the rain…Just listen to the rain…” It’s a wonderful reminder to slow down and to lift up your eyes and open up your ears to what’s around you. So stop. Watch. Listen. You will be inspired to do it again and again….

From OWN: Award-winning photographer Robin Layton brings her eye for natural beauty to OWN with a short meant to inspire quiet and introspection.

by paula on November 25, 2011

OWN brings us big inspiration in these little original shorts.  Take the time and enjoy this one!  One person changing the world…be inspired.   How are you changing the world today?  What’s stopping you?

From OWN: In 1993, retired schoolteacher Agnes Stevens read a book on homelessness that changed her life. She made the decision to use her classroom experience to help homeless children stay in school and get good grades. Beginning with children in a nearby park, now 20 years later Agnes and her project, School on Wheels, provide tutoring to children in shelters, motels, cars and the streets. Stevens was one of three women who received the World’s Children’s Prize for the Rights of the Child, known as the “Children’s Nobel Prize.”
