Miracle Detectives

Can being struck by lightening open up a direct communication to God? According to Tiffany Snow, it did. She claimed to have experienced stigmata over a period of several years. Stigmata are believed to be a supernatural sign from God…similar to the wounds Jesus received at crucifixion. These markings mysteriously appear on the skin. Although cases are VERY rare, Tiffany Snow claimed to have her OWN stigmata.

In 1999, Tiffany was struck by lightening. Everything went white and she claimed that she went to Heaven. The voice of God spoke to her and said “if you love me, you’ll go back”. Of course she said yes. One night she had some vivid dreams and when she woke she noticed brown marks on her hands…where the wounds of Christ would go. The next day the spots starting running with blood. Tiffany believed the purpose of her stigmata, which occurred from July 2005 to April 2009, was to bring about more prayers to ease the suffering of mankind. Randall asked to see her hands and the miracle detectives noticed white spots which appeared to be scar tissue.   [read more…]

The theory of past lives is a controversial one. The thought that memories could be passed down from one life to the next seems highly unlikely, but in the miracle detectives first case, this is exactly what they are exploring. This story is not an unheard one. The parents of young James Leininger even wrote a book about the entire journey, Soul Survivor : The Reincarnation of a World War II Fighter Pilot

Before the miracle detectives meet with the Leininger family, both Dr. V and Randall found themselves curious and questioning their OWN beliefs. Dr. V studied memories in depth and had a hard time believing that there could be a transfer of memory after death. If it was true, then the world would have to rethink how we look at memory and the soul. Although Randall is hesitant in believing in reincarnation because it goes against Orthodox Christian doctrine, he is open to the story realizing it could change the way he views the world.

As soon as Dr. V and Randall arrive at the Leininger’s home, the are greeted by both Andrea and Bruce, Jame’s parents. Andrea tells the first time she realized something might be up. She had been shopping and bought James (who was around 2 years old at the time) a small toy plane. [read more…]

This week’s episode opens with the miracle detectives heading to Phoenix for a case involving a medical intuitive. Jason Ward believes he can see things that aren’t visible to the average person. He is able to see the health of someone by seeing into their bodies. Jason calls what he does “body scanning”. He claims he can see into the human body…seeing the organs and heart beating, blood cells and even the food being broken down. His first experience occurred in a pharmacy where he was able to see into a man’s chest. He noticed 2 tumors and the man overheard and was shocked because Jason was accurate. He believes he is 90% accurate if not closer to 100% since some things are found up to 6 months in advance.

Dr. V wonders if the imagination and fantasy are making Jason see things. She doesn’t believe there is any credible evidence to validate the existence of ESP or clairvoyance. On the other hand, Randall understands there are skeptics but he believes it is possible someone could have ESP or psychic powers.

Randall started off by interviewing Randall Christensen a former client of Jason’s. He had 4 ½ years of acute intestinal pain and doctors ran multiple tests and could not find a diagnosis. Jason told him that he had a bug or infection in his small intestines. Randall was then tested and found to have a parasite and bacteria infection. He was put on the strongest medication. The symptoms came back and the doctors discovered Randall had a partial obstruction. He could have died within hours. He credits Jason for saving his life. [read more…]

The Florida panhandle was the site of a terrifying car crash that only Karen Clarke knew was coming. A week prior Karen saw this accident coming and did her best to spiritually prepare. Was she able to change her outcome, or did she merely have a premonition of what was ahead of her.

Dr. V and Randall headed off the the city of Niceville, Florida, to find the answers. Dr. V struggles with her scientific side as she looks for a rational explanation to surviving the accident. Randall is curious how someone could have a premonition, ask a prayer group to help her pray about it and then survive it. To him, a miracle seems possible. The miracle detectives met with Karen Clark and listened attentively to her story.

Karen Clarke claims she had dream where she was driving a van and going down a hill. Unable to put brakes on, she saw tops of trees and ravine to side of her. She proceeded to go downhill and over a guardrail. In the dream she knew was going to die. However, she didn’t recognize the area in the dream and figured it wasn’t in Florida. The following day she shared her story with her prayer group. [read more…]

Speaking in tongues dates way back to the Old Testament where some believed God was talking through them. Today, this concept rests outside of mainstream Christianity. Yet, the miracle detectives headed out to Gettysberg, Pennsylvania, to investigate this phenomena. They meet with Gerry Stoltzfoos, the pastor of Freedom Valley Worship Center, and his followers who believed their lives were profoundly changed by speaking in tongues. Was it possible that miracles were occurring at this small church?

The pastor seemed to be a humble man…like any kind neighbor…with some goodhearted followers. Some of which struggled with drug addiction, others with life changing situations and even others with serious medical issues. They all agreed that coming to Pastor Gerry’s church changed their life. Speaking in tongue seemed to bring them to a new level of faith and believing.

The ritual was simple. The pastor, seen as Shepard by his parishioners, created a circle and asked the Lord to enter. People…not everyone…started speaking in tongue. One previous drug addicted parishioner mentioned how speaking in tongue “takes the weight off me”. To him is was freeing. The pastor admitted that speaking in tongues helped those that were desperate for hope.  [read more…]

To begin….the miracle detectives head to the small town of Elyria, Ohio. For 25 years, Maureen Sweeney-Kyle has claimed that the Blessed Mother appears to her and relays messages. In 1994, she told Maureen she wanted her messages to be heard by the world. Maureen invited those who wanted to hear…1000 people came to the residential home and literally stopped traffic! Then, the Blessed Mother told Maureen to look for property in the country, which is where the Holy Love Campus was soon created.

When the miracle detectives arrived at the campus, one couldn’t shake the commercialized vibe. They were met by Mary Ann Augustine, the office manager and representative of the campus. The camera followed Dr. V and Randall around the quiet, barren campus. They hovered in what appeared to be a gift shop, flipping through a display of photos believed to have caught holy apparitions in film.

Many people come to the campus to try to catch a glimpse of the Blessed Mother and hear the messages Maureen Sweeney-Kyle is famous for relaying. Not everyone sees apparitions, only those who are “granted with the grace” we are told. In the presence of Maureen, everyone recites the rosary. Maureen then would fall to her knees which would indicate that the Blessed Mother had arrived. This is how she speaks to Maureen. [read more…]

The miracle detectives kick off this segment in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a photo of what resembles an angel in a hospital corridor. The image was caught on a hospital monitor in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Chelsea Banton, a special needs patient, was in serious trouble. She had double pneumonia, a collapsed lung, kidneys that had failed and a staph infection. She had very little chance of survival. The doctors informed her mother it was time to make a decision on taking her daughter off life support. Her mother made the most difficult decision any parent would ever have to make. At that time, an image of an angel appeared on the monitor. Almost immediately, Chelsea recovered and it was unexplainable. Did an angel come to her rescue? Was this her guardian angel?

Chelsea Banton had struggled her whole life….in and out of the hospital. She is a fighter. However, she had never been this sick. The doctors told her mother her daughter’s lungs could no longer support her. After three months in the hospital, her mother knew it was in God’s hands and decided to take her daughter off life support. As soon as the machine went off, she immediately improved. The nurses were amazed!  [read more…]

This episode takes us to the Southwest….a spiritual Native American site. Every year, thousands of people make the pilgrimage to this sanctuary known as Chimayo. For over 200 years, this place held stories of miracles of people being healed by the dirt. YES…the dirt! Some believe they were healed by the earth where others associated the healing with the power of one’s own belief in God.

The miracle detectives decided to examine the healing of a woman, Deseree Martniez, who believed she was cured by the dirt. She had been diagnosed with cancer in approximately 20 different bones in her body. Not good! She was given a 10% chance of survival and started chemo within 2 weeks. One day she was focusing on pain in her knee when she recalled a visit to Chimayo and the healing properties of the dirt. She thought for a moment and then spit into the dirt and placed it on her knee. It felt better and the pain never returned! It was a sign that everything was going to be alright. Weeks later, the doctors ran a scan that showed the lesion in her knee had disappeared. She knew then she would be protected by God.  [read more…]
