Some days can feel like they are dragging on forever. The same faces, the same hellos, the same meetings, the routine…rarely a spontaneous flicker of joy. Well, today that changes. I am giving you 10 silly things to do around work and home to bring a little fun into the day!
Flickers of Fun for Work:
Stockpile – Create a stockpile of paper wads and throw them at anyone who is blocking the creative process. Don’t shoot any eyes out!
Game on – Blow up a balloon and challenge your co-worker on the other side of the cubicle to a volleyball game.
Puzzled – Draw a large Sudoku on the whiteboard in the break room.
Voice activate the place – Put a sign on the fax machine (or copier) that says “Voice activated. Please speak loudly. Begin by saying HELLO.” I don’t advise this one if your co-workers into pranks.
Super Star – Designate a “Super Star” rug or section of carpet. Every time someone walks over it have everyone applaud and cheer.
Flickers of Fun for Home:
Rock Stars – Give everyone 20 minutes to dress up as crazy as they want. Then turn on the tunes and rock out as the greatest air band. Great props: Halloween costumes, tennis rackets and fake microphones. Ten years later, I still have my “rock star” box.
Create a Fortress – Create a fort in the house. Use lots of sheets and hang them off everything. Fill it with pillows and blankets. Be prepared for the kids to leave it up all weekend allowing you some quiet time.
Shower comic – Write jokes on the wall of the shower and leave a colored pencil or dry erase marker on the ledge. Encourage silly questions and funny facts. Be creative and have fun.
Twist and shout – Throw down a Twister Challenge. Forget about the aches and pains and just give it a try. You may have a great time!
Smores? – Surprise your family with a tent and a fire pit in the backyard. Fill coolers with their favorite treats, make dinner over the fire and leave the technology in the house. Easiest camping trip ever!
Some of these ideas may not be up your alley, but the key is to find something that breaks up the monotony of the day. Maybe with a little luck, one of these flickers of fun will brighten up your day and bring a smile to those around you.
